Polaria is an Arctic Experience Centre for the whole family, and the only place in Europe where you can see bearded seals up close. See, experience, and understand how life in the sea and life on land depend on each other.

Description

Stare a wolffish in the eye, spot the tiny sharks hiding in the sand, and greet the six playful seals in the Seal Pool. The interactive exhibitions showcase some of the climate- and environmental research done in the Arctic. And in the Panoramic Theatre you can watch three different films on the 21-metre screen; “Svalbard – Arctic Wilderness” showcases wildlife and nature at Spitsbergen, “Northern Lights – A Wonderous Experience” gives a scientific explanation about the northern lights as well as stunning images from the Tromsø area, and “Behind the Scenes” gives you an insight into how they work with the animals at Polaria.


In the spring of 2025, the new Seal Pool will be finished. It may be crowded around the current seal pool, but the seals can still be viewed.
