Christmas is a time full of wonderful traditions. We bake gingerbread biscuits, drink glögg and decorate a beautiful tree. But Christmas is not always a happy time for everyone – and that's why we have a Christmas tradition of our very own here at Strawberry. It's called Lonely Christmas Tree Seeking Presents. We invite you to donate a present and place it under a tree in one of our hotel lobbies in early December.
How to participate
1. Buy or donate a Christmas present – just make sure it’s in good condition! It’s best if it’s something you think a child would really want, not just something they might need. This could even include an experience! A cinema ticket is a much appreciated gift that suits children of all ages.
2. There’s no need to wrap your gift! Just write a note detailing the approximate age and interests of your intended recipient. For example: "Merry Christmas from Pia! (This gift is ideal for someone aged 3-5 who LOVES playing outside.)"
3. Visit a hotel near you and place the present under the tree.
The dates during which you can place gifts under our Christmas trees vary from hotel to hotel, but if you want to be sure of finding a decorated tree ready for your gift then come in any time between 1-16 December 2023.
Where do the presents go?
All received Christmas presents are donated to local supporting charities chosen by the hotel. They in turn make sure that the presents reach children in need. Donations are made to a variety of organisations including Talita, Svenska Kyrkan, Stockholms Stadsmission, Frälsningsarmen, Blå Kors and Rädda Barnen.
