Diversity Advisory Board

Embracing diversity – for a better life and future

For our employees to feel seen and heard, we need to listen to them. For that reason, we set up an internal Diversity Advisory Board in 2023, to help with strategic decision-making and provide ongoing feedback on how we can make our organisation even better!

The board includes a diverse bunch of people with different nationalities, ages, genders, backgrounds and disabilities. This will help us to stay at the forefront of progress. But also to support in creating workplaces that truly reflect the diversity of the communities in which we operate.

Collaboration with Samhall

The recruitment challenge

Since 2015, we have a national collaboration with Samhall in Sweden. Samhall's mission is to create rewarding work for people with disabilities. Their employees are usually individuals who have been the furthest from the job market, but through Samhall have been matched based on their abilities to find the right jobs. Strawberry contributes with internships and recruits new employees through Samhall.

In 2017 we participated in Samhall's recruitment challenge where we hope to recruit new employees.

Job seekers get a new chance in our hotel kitchens

We are a company that loves to think in a new way! WIth inspiration from a Swedish project, we started a collaboration with the Norwegian employee agency, NAV, and Folkuniversitetet Sør-Øst in 2016. Candidates were job seekers at NAV and after six months of theoretical and practical learning they were ready to begin their work as chef's assistants. Of all participants, 50% were employed.

We also have several projects in Sweden where unemployed people receive chef's training through the employment agency or their municipality. We offer internships and practical training within the occupation and the industry. Approximately 30% are employed with us after finishing their training.

A workplace for everyone

Award for Sweden's most LGBTQ-friendly workplace

In 2016, Nordic Choice Hotels (now Strawberry) was named Sweden's most LGBTQ-friendly workplace thanks to our ambitious work for equal rights and opportunities, regardless of people's sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. The award was given by Unionen, which has been presenting the LGBTQ award since 2011.

Recruitment with a wider scope

In Norway, we collaborate with Ringer i Vannet, which is a recruitment strategy by Næringslivets Hovedorganisasjon, NHO (Norway's main business organization).

With this collaboration we are strengthening the company's work with helping people that have fallen out of the workplace. It can be people with physical or psychological obstacles, who do not have it as easy as others. The agreement with Ringer i Vannet has been established in many of our hotels and we make sure that the recruitment strategy is working.

Talent search at Clarion

Talent is more than what is on paper

We believe that fantastic service is not always about an amazing resume or many years of experience, it is more about the personality and creativity when meeting our guests and visitors.

Clarion Hotel have hosted several job fairs, where everyone who wants to come, with or without experience, gets the opportunity to audition and show us who they are in less than two minutes. During these two minutes you have a short presentation about yourself where you can tell us about your values, merits and talents and why you are the right person for the job. Everyone is welcome!
