Clarion Hotel® Admiral

Admiral offers what a traveller needs : good beds, shower, good breakfast ... It is very well located : close to the historic part of Bergen and very close to the bus-stop to the Airport. Nice view on the harbour (with the well known historic buildings :) )

Nice rooms but lacked enough power outlets. Breakfast area very crowded. Parking garage is tough to get in or out. Central location and walking distance to shopping areas and restaurants. Good for walking around the city. Front desk staff not friendly .

The pros: waterfront location just steps from fjord ferries departures. The ‘living room’ lounge downstairs which becomes a pleasant breakfast room in the morning. And the breakfast itself. The so and so: room size pretty small. Mostly uninterested front desk staff. The ugly: room is run down and in need of refurbish and a deep clean. Daily housekeeping is minimalistic and superficial as it did not pick up significant chunks of dust on the floor and on the thick hairy rug for several days. And plenty of details left unaddressed for 4 days - a faulty light in the bathroom, the screwing of soap dispensers, the lack of a bathroom mat to name some - prove that housekeepers were uninterested and there is no quality control to check their work. Sad because the price tag would deserve pretty good service.

the hotel is opposite from Bryggen town, you can see the full view at restaurant area. There is a good place to sightseeing in Bergen, close to fish market, Bryggen and Bus station to go to the airport.

What a wonderful hotel! Outstanding location, comfortable room, amazing breakfast, and delightful front of house staff! We spent six nights at the Clarion Hotel Admiral in late June. If we could, we'd give this hotel ten stars. It is that special! The hotel is centrally located in Bergen, on the edge of the harbor, and is a short walk to the Fish Market, Bryggen, the Mount Floyen funicular, the Aquarium, and shops and supermarkets. The location is absolutely perfect. Our room was a bit on the small side, but very comfortable. YouTube on the television, so that we could keep up with Seth Meyers' and Stephen Colbert's takes on American politics. There is free (locked) luggage storage in the main lobby, so we were able to leave our luggage on our day of arrival and our day of departure, and continue to explore Bergen. The breakfasts are amazing! So much food, and so many things to choose from! My personal favorite was the smoked salmon, but the cornucopia of meats, fish, fruit, cereal, eggs, yogurt, breads, pastries, and juices made it nearly impossible to choose. We had to leave before the breakfast rooms opened one morning as we were on our way to a fjord cruise, but they prepared a filling breakfast for us to carry away. The breakfast room overlooks the harbor, and there is a balcony off of the breakfast room where you can take your meal, weather permitting. But the best thing about the Clarion Hotel Admiral is the front of house staff. Ilja, Bente, and Pernille were wonderful! It was such a pleasure talking with them, and the pride that they took in their hotel and the City of Bergen was so obvious. We learned so much about Bergen from them (even the not so nice bits!) , and they were so helpful with making recommendations. We truly enjoyed coming back to the hotel at the end of the day and sharing our exploits with them. (Note to Clarion management: Do not let these people go! They are a great asset to your hotel!) We are hoping to return to Bergen at some point, as there was so much to do, and so much we didn't have time to do. And when we do, we'll definitely be staying at the Clarion Hotel Admiral again. Very, very highly recommended!
