Clarion Hotel Bergen

We stayed in Bergen for 2 nights on our trip around Scandanavia. We booked 2 rooms and they were ready when we checked in. Very comfortable beds, clean rooms, and satisfactory bathrooms. The maid came for daily service which was a plus too. We had breakfast 2 mornings and each time it was crowded, but we were able to find seating due to the large room. There were many choices for different palates and 2 coffee machines. Friendly employees worked constantly to refill breakfast items and clear tables. The proximity to downtown Bergen and the sites was the cherry on top. I would recommend staying here.

The hotel is in a great location near the marina, the UNESCO world heritage buildings, and the Mt. Floyen funicular. Rooms were clean but a little tired with some outlets that didn't work. One of our 2 rooms was significantly larger than the other (both faced the marina in the back of the hotel) but both had enough space for our needs. Front desk staff was very helpful with info & calling a taxi for us. Breakfast had a good variety of items - you choose your breakfast time slots at check in, which managed the crowd. All in all, a good stay.

Appalling service ; we had booked hotel many months in advance. Arrived 3 hours before check in : left our cases as our room ‘was not ready yet ‘according to the receptionist. We returned on time to be told the hotel was overbooked and they were sending us to another hotel . Strange as the people served before us and after us got their rooms no issue. Makes you wonder if bulk booked rooms are given priority ( we booked through booking.com). Girl at reception said she had no authority to help us but there was no one else more senior to assist us. Awful experience . Shoddy hotel and service.

Enjoyed a short weekend and stayed in a family room which was very comfortable and spacious for 4 people. Only had breakfast one day during our stay and it was plentiful and delicious. Hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant —from front desk to dining to room cleaning. Found the town a bit chaotic but the hotel was quiet and relaxing, even with huge tour bus groups in and out.

The bartender who filled the beer order half full then justified his action due to a no tip was given in a very threatening way. Very scary because we were alone.
