The cultural town Langesund
For many Norwegians, Langesund is one of the idyllic Sörland towns, synonymous with summer. Historically, the town is characterised by the traditions of the sea and from early on was one of the country's most important harbour towns. Langesund is a real summer town with a vibrant street life from May to September when the cultural life blossoms with outdoor concerts and festivals back to back. We also have Wrightegaarden where concerts are arranged in the most delightful courtyard in Norway.
Get out for a run – summer and winter
Just outside the hotel, there is a lit track. In the winter, tracks are made for skiing and in the summer, this is a great place for running with wood chip underneath which gives a soft surface from spring to snow fall. Have a word with the staff in reception for tips on great places for running.
Discover the archipelago and coast.
There are a range of fantastic spots, strung along the coastline like gems on a necklace. There is lots to discover around the hotel but you can also use it as a starting point for day trips further afield. If you enjoy hiking, there are boats going across the fjord to another popular tourist place, the town of Helgeroa, which is where the coastal path to Stavern starts. Or why not stay on the western side of the fjord and hike down towards Kragerø? As far and for as long as you decide – just pack your lunch and off you go. There are plenty of places to stop for a swim should you be so inclined. There are also plenty of places to go cycling in the area for anyone who likes to feel the wind in their hair.
Gea Norvegica Geopark
The aim of the Geopark is to share knowledge about our geological natural heritage by showing how our own existence is connected with geological issues. Both in Telemark and Vestfold, the areas surrounding Langesund, have several Geopark areas, of which the ones in Steinvika and Rognstranda are next to the hotel. The Geopark arranges activities throughout the year at different locations and for different purposes. The park is supported by UNESCO.
Museum in Langesund
Langesund is an old town with a long tradition of seafaring and trade. The coastal museum is located in the boathouse of the old man Cudrio, so named after the Norwegian tradesman and member of parliament Ole Hansen Cudrio (1767 – 1822). The museum is spread over three floors with exhibitions showing the marine history of the area. Gallery Cudrio is also located here. The old town hall, Cudriogården, is also part of the museum and various exhibitions are also organised here.
