This part of Stockholm is hip. Just that. Hip. Nacka is a suburb, close to central Stockholm, which used to be mainly an industrial area since the 18th century. Over the last two decades a lot of the old industrial buildings have been refurbished, renovated and lots of new buildings built inbetween. Nowadays, Nacka is a modern urban area with a mixture of apartment buildings, shops, restaurants, cinema, theater, parks and good public transportation. Right in the center, viewing over Marcusplatsen, one finds the Clarion Collection Hotel Tapetfabriken, located in an building that once housed a tapestry and wallpaper manufacturing company, i.e. tapetfabriken in Swedish. The lobby offers two-story high ceilings, exposed brickwork, ventilation ducts etc. It is an industrial style. At the same time there is an airy feeling, open spaces, lots of furniture to sit on in either groups of two, four and even offering seating arrangements for larger groups. In addition off to both sides of the entrance are areas made for working. Large (20+ people) desks with optional power to be used to do some work if needed. Further on, the ground floor is occupied by the open restaurant/bar area - it was quite nice and useful that this area was open 24/7. You wanted to sit at a desk and to chat, play games or work after breakfast or before dinner - no problem at all, choose your seat. Breakfast was offered buffet style with freshly baked local rye bread (highly recommend), bread rolls, white bread, croissants, different jams & spreads, along with a selection of cold cuts, cheeses, veggies, eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, coffee, tea, milk, juices, water. In addition to breakfast your stay includes fika, a traditional swedish afternoon routine of drinking coffee or tea whilst enjoying a bite of cake. Further, dinner is also included, what a steal! From about 6 pm till 9(?) pm a warm dinner service is offered buffet-style in the restaurant area. Typically one would find a soup, a salad buffet, freshly baked bread and a warm main course with a vegan option. The bar is also located in the restaurant area and offers drinks for purchase all day round. But the hotel offers more than just the lobby :D If you arrived by car, you could use the car park located directly below the building and connected by elevator to the lobby. If you wanted to exercise you could use the gym on 2nd floor or the included sauna. My room was spacious with windows from floor to ceiling. The rooms location on 2nd floor opened towards some kind of office building across a narrow lane, but the windows could be used with shades that came down from the ceiling which prevented people from looking into the room while still allowing much natural daylight to enter. All lights could conveniently be turned on and off from bedside. Mattresses were quite new, pillows were offered in a range of fluffy to relatively hard like a loaf of dark bread. Wifi reception and speed was great. One downside was that the TV did not offer any screen mirroring, if you do not understand Swedish then better bring your own Chromecast/Fire stick or something similar with you to watch a movie or TV. The place in front of the hotel offers a playground, a little park with a cafe, some restaurants and a cinema across on the other side of the park. The next grocery store is a 4 minute walk away. The next bus stop 2 minutes, the tram station about 5-10 minutes of walk.

Poor hotel security - Strangers could just walk into the hotel's dinning room to have free meals! There is no one there to check whether you are a hotel guest or not! As a result of this poor security system, my friend has lost her very important belongings while having breakfast in the dinning room. I strongly recommend that readers of TripAdvisor to stay away from this hotel. Poor quality dinner - The soup was so salty that none of us could consume it.
