This hotel feels like a place that should be WAY more expensive than it is. Beautiful attention to detail in every small and large space - tiling in each guest bathroom, cove molding, second floor rail car recreation, great lighting in each room, it really is all stunning. Put together with a clear love of and respect for the history this place represents. The location is excellent- steps from the main train station. And the breakfast offering is, quite simply, the best I have ever been offered. Plus a lively bar scene at night. Maaaybe you can find some of this elsewhere. But beyond the physical beauty of the building is the staff. Well trained, engaged, clearly loving their work. One example I will share - my friend fell in the Sculpture Garden and, after we made our way back to the hotel, the concierge assisted us in finding an urgent care, transpo, ice, all that we might need with a genuine attention to our wellbeing. (That morning she had talked us through multiple recommendations to satisfy my sweet tooth.) I will come back here any chance I get

Excellent location, near the train station on a very nice square, full of cafes and restaurants. very comfortable nice rooms, well decorated and very nice beds for a good sleep after a tiresome day. very good breakfast for all tastes and very good service. My two friends and I enjoyed It very much.

I recently stayed here for 3 nights with my partner, and it was simply perfect. We had a Superior Loft room that was nice and spacious with an incredible bathroom and shower. The breakfast every morning was fantastic with so much choice and excellent wait staff. We spent one night having cocktails in Pier 42 which again was fantastic, great drinks and great staff talking us through our choices. I cannot think of one negative thing to say about the hotel. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, and incredibly helpful with every single thing we needed. An amazing hotel with so many fantastic details, we're already planning our return!

Absolutely wonderful hotel in Oslo! Highly recommend staying here. The hotel has so much character and the decor/branding that tells the story of the Norwegian American line is so fascinating! Our room was perfect, spacious and very nicely decorated. The breakfast was incredible with so many options and the freshly baked cookies at turn down service were also a nice touch! The location is also great, right next to the central train station, right on a tram line, and a few minutes walk to the Opera House. I would definitely stay here again!

We've just returned from a few nights staying at Amerikalinjen having never visited Oslo nor Norway previously and having chosen the hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews. We're very glad we chose Amerikalinjen. It's a beautiful, characterful building with a history which has been restored with some sensitivity and its location was perfect for what we wanted to do in Oslo. The train station for the airport is across the street as are the tram stations. The Opera House, Library and Munch Museum are around the corner as are the shopping district and the Arkshus, National Museum and waterfront are a 10 minute walk away (or a 5 minute tram ride). The public spaces in the hotel (reception, restaurants, courtyard, fitness) are all spacious, stylish and comfortable places to sit and eat or have coffee and I did try the sauna downstairs which was small but superb. Our room on the 3rd floor was great with a very comfortable bed, a superb shower room and everything that you might need for your stay. It was also pretty quiet given that the street below is fairly noisy (trams/buses) and this turned out to be thanks to the glazing. Open the windows and, no surprise, it's a lot more noisy :-) The only comment I'd make on the room is that I think the hotel could give you some drinks (water primarily) included in the room rate. It seems a bit unfriendly to charge you to drink water in a hotel like this one. We ate breakfast in the hotel each day and found it to be a really good experience - there's a great variety of buffet and we had no problem in finding the sorts of things that we like to eat with lots of fresh food available. Breakfast was pretty busy while we were there and in many hotels this causes problems but that didn't happen here - everything runs very well. Last, but by no means least, we found the staff at the hotel who mostly look to be on the younger side of 30 years old to be extremely friendly, helpful and professional - everyone's doing a great job to make the hotel run smoothly and, hopefully, people let them know it and reward them for it. I'd have no hesitation in recommending Amerikanlinjen as the place to stay in Oslo and would happily revisit - it's a great place to be.
