Clarion Hotel® Oslo

Great location between the train station, Oslo’s trendiest new neighborhood (Barcode project in Bjørvika), the opera and the new (2021) Munch museum. Really superb Norwegian breakfast buffet. Watch out - there are three ways of getting your coffee here, machine filter, machine ground beans (by which I mean the normal upmarket machine where the beans are ground per cup and you choose anything from espresso to latte or even hot chocolate) and barista service. Watch out also that someone doesn’t steal your table if you don’t leave unambiguous signs of occupation whilst going for your third course …. especially if it’s a desirable window table. Friendly staff throughout. The basic rooms were OK. Large bathroom / excellent shower, quite small bedroom with room safe, iron and plenty of hangers but almost nowhere else to put your clothes. Minibar (more useful as a fridge), Nespresso machine with 2 capsules per day. Good WiFi. Plenty of towels, good (Rituals) toiletries. Oh - as someone else has commented - it’s only 2 minutes walk from Maaemo, but good luck getting a reservation there … I will unhesitatingly stay here on my next trip to Oslo (and go for a basic room despite the small size).

Our stay here was very good. The room was spacious and it was cleaned when we asked (you leave a sign on the door). It’s perfectly located with the tram right outside and just a 5 minute walk from the central station. It also had a great choice for breakfast with omelettes being done fresh and a person doing the coffees. They also had a section with food for allergies. It did get super busy on the weekend which was a bit tricky to find a table.

Modern, hip and trendy hotel. Good location, close to the Munch museum. Room was quite small but bed was fluffy, soft and amazingly comfortable. Buffet breakfast was delicious. I found the cold selection to be the best I’ve ever seen. Parter preferred the cooked breakfast but for me it wasn’t served hot enough. Very polite staff on the hot breakfast section. Always cheerful and friendly. I loved the cheese and the salmon and the fresh bread was delicious. Lots of healthy options too, I’ve never seen alfalfa sprouts on a breakfast buffet before. Shower great. Very clean and comfortable room. Nice cocktail bar. We had a great stay here.

- Excellent location less than 5 min walk to the central train station, Opera House and waterfront. From the airport take the fast train (FLYTOGET) to central station and walk to the hotel. From the platform (13 or 14) use the first exit on your left, turn left and walk parallel to the platform until the flyover, turn right towards the traffic lights. The hotel will be 45' on your left next to the bus stop. - Very comfortable and chic room. - Excellent breakfast. - Excellent staff. - On the way from the hotel towards the Opera House there is a restaurant called Dognvill they have fantastic burgers and milkshakes (was recommended by the hotel reception staff).

I thought this hotel was right by the train station which I used coming from the airport. I booked the Clarion Hotel Oslo before I left home. When I got to the one by the train station I discovered my Clarion was 3 or 4 blocks further away. So make sure you book the right Clarion depending upon your needs. This Clarion is right by the Munchen museum and close to the bus station which I required too. It is well appointed and has an absolutely awesome breakfast which is included in the room rate. As a result I made breakfast my big meal of the day and then just ate lightly later. I was going to Sweden so stayed here again when returning to the airport. I would definitely recommend this hotel and utilize again. The tram runs right by the hotel so get a pass from the Visitor Centre, at the end of the complex where the train station is, then you can use it was the tram, bus, ferry and certain museums including the Kon Tiki.
