Comfort Hotel® Karl Johan

Good central location, room sufficient, employees friendly, breakfast had a good fresh selection but it a bit of scramble to get a table especially if you on your own! I arrived 2 hours before check in and was told there was a charge for early check in which was fine but my room was opposite a live construction site. I gave it the benefit of the doubt as it was a Friday but 7.30am on Saturday all day and Monday morning it was so loud I felt as if I was on the site myself. Impossible to relax in any shape or form! I do believe the hotel knows this and these particular rooms are the worst. It really spoiled my long weekend! Shame!

2 stars for the breakfast and the location of the hotel. They call it stylish, but there are better hostals in germany. Besides 2 knobs at the wall there is no possibility, neither in the room nor in the bathroom, to put your things on. You have to grab it from your suitcase or the floor of the bathroom. Unfortunately our travel agency booked the wrong hotel „Karl Johan“, not knowing that there are 2 in the same street.

Great location, friendly staff, adequate breakfast. Rooms were extremely small. The first room we were show, had not been cleaned. Went to desk and were given another room. The first night we were awoken at 2 am by the fire alarm. Waited outside for over an hour with no explanation, probably a false alarm. We were told room would be cleaned every 4 days, did not happen, probably because we were checking out day 5. Three of the four days we were able to get towels from the desk, because they do not dry can only be used once. The third day only hand towels were available. If you plan to sleep, I would suggest a different hotel, as the noise from the bars, Street and construction will keep you up at night.

Bit of small rooms, they do not get cleaned often (only every 4 days) but you can ask to get it cleaned more often. Compact but nice bathroom. Very tight rooms tho. No actual closets, just some nightstand space. Delicious breakfast with lots of options! Overall good stay, would come back.

My wife and I had been looking forward to celebrating our wedding anniversary at this hotel. The hotel is probably great enough, but unfortunately I became acutely ill and ended up in quarantine the same day. It turns out that the hotel has no cancellation option according to Covid-19 infection. There you have to pay full price while you are in quarantine. If you want to get value for money here, you have to show up carrying the infection and rather show some caution in common areas and during the breakfast buffet. If there is a chance of getting sick, my advice is to choose another hotel.
