Avalon Hotel

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Avalon hotel. It's in a very convenient location close to the city center (and close to bus/tram stops). Check in/out was seamless and the staff very friendly. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast buffet had many options. We also had lunch at the restaurant upon arrival and the food was very good! The only downside to Avalon is that while it's in a central location, that also means the area around the hotel is busy/crowded. We stayed over a weekend and it was pretty loud outside our room on the street which kept us up at night / recycling service woke us very early in the morning.

We were in Gothenburg for just one night, and the Avalon was a great choice. It was a nice location, and the room was stylishly appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was very good.

Perfect place to stay in Gothenburg. Hotel has a family feel rather than a big corporate hotel. Really loved our stay & would highly recommend.

Avalon is one oh-so-impressive hotel in Gothenburg. We were booked into the Suite Vallgatan. When you enter the door, you quickly notice the powder room to your immediate left. The foyer leads to the living room, a very huge space with a long floor-to-ceiling wall to-wall glass window with a glass door that leads to a triangular balcony. The balcony has a table and four chairs which my wife and I enjoyed as we drank the complimentary champagne and gourmet chocolates in the evening. At the thin edge of the balcony was a custom-made pig table made by a Danish design group. Inside was a Getsuen Chair made by a Japanese designer which looks like a violet starfish. Both objects are described in two floor mounted pedestals – wow! There’s a wall to wall cabinet that includes a pull-out desk and holds the nespresso machine, the water kettle, and other room décor. The living room also has a sofa set, with a floor-standing lamp. The artwork in the room is very impressive. The bedroom has two sliding glass doors. The headboard is an expensive looking white quilted cushion, with reading lights and simple boards that jut out of the wall that act as night stands. A larget TV screen hangs opposite the bed. What really impressed us was the number of English-language channels. The curtains make a bold design statement. The T&B is another impressive affair, with his and hers wash basins that risw from the floor like giant vases and very artsy faucets. A wall to wall mirror sits atop the basins and a very convenient glass ledge sits at the bottom of the mirror. A large tub sits on one side, with a great view of nearby buildings. The amenities were also very impressive – Bulgari, plus special soaps. Breakfast started late on a Sunday which caused us a bit of stress since we were leaving early. But the fare was very good – they had shrimp salad and beet salad, a first in our Sweden travels. They also had salmon, which my wife appreciated.

Everything was great from the location, design, the room, quality of bed, restaurant, breakfast to the roof top. Week-end appreciated the ki dness of the employees and the valet parking. You can book without hesitation!
