Visiting the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi during the Swedish summer was a truly unforgettable experience. My husband and I stayed in one of the warm rooms – beautifully designed, cozy, and with a view over the serene northern landscape. But what made the visit so special was the contrast: stepping from the lush green summer outside into a world of snow and ice. It felt like walking between seasons – and realities. The ice rooms are open in summer as an art exhibition, and each one is a masterpiece. Created by artists from all over the world, every room tells its own story through incredible detail and creativity. And despite what you might expect, it’s not that cold – around -5°C inside, which feels more refreshing than freezing. The staff were warm, welcoming, and eager to share the history of the hotel and how the ice suites are built each year. That insight added so much depth to the experience. As a couple, we found it deeply romantic – walking hand in hand through shimmering ice corridors, then stepping back into the golden midnight sun. It was the perfect blend of coziness, wonder, and connection. If you’re considering a visit, don’t hesitate – even in summer, the Icehotel offers a magical escape that combines Swedish nature, world-class design, and unforgettable atmosphere. Highly recommended for couples looking for something truly special.

Great food. Exceptionally good breakfast. Visited the ICE bar and exhibition rooms in ICE Hotel 365. It was all magical. Definitely will be back.

My husband, sister, brother-in-law & I spent two nights at the Ice hotel. One night in an ice room (with warm bathroom attached) and one night in a normal cabin. Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t the 5 star experience we’d hoped for. The good The dog sled from the airport was great fun and we all agreed we'd do that again The ice art is amazing, and we very much enjoyed walking around, looking at all the rooms, the Ice Bar and the chapel etc. The other experiences we booked were also fun. Two snow mobile (one at night and one in the day) and a cross-country ski walk. We all very much enjoyed the experience of sleeping on ice. The Bad This is the only hotel I have ever been to which doesn’t offer you a porter help with luggage, yet this is one of the hotels where you need that the most. Dragging luggage through snow & ice from reception, to your room, then back to reception and onto new room was a big effort. There should be porters to help and when changing rooms, the staff should move your luggage for you while you are our on an excursion, as they do in any other decent hotel. The food in the restaurant was overpriced, limited and not very good, but sadly there wasn’t really any alternative. We walked to town during the day and wanted to go back to eat at the Homestead in the evening, however, the walk during the day had been treacherous due to there being thick ice everywhere so we didn’t want to risk the walk at night. I asked if there was any transport option, but other than paying for a taxi to come all the way from Kiruna at a cost of around £50 for what would be a 5 min journey to town, there was no option. The hotel should invest in a shuttle service. I also wasn’t expecting the hotel to be full of day trippers. That meant the hotel was very crowded with nowhere to sit in the bar or reception area until all the day trippers left at 6pm.
