Hobo

We had a very pleasent stay at the Hobo. The staff was very helbful at any given chance. The location is very central and absolutely perfect. We would highly recommend the Hobo to our friends.

I'll start this by saying the breakfast was great, as was the location, but that is pretty much it. Location: Excellent and close to everything. Breakfast: Excellent and you have many choices. However, you will be turned away if the restaurant gets busy. Despite having empty tables available, we were turned away twice at 8:45am since they said all tables were full, which was a blatant lie. We paid for breakfast in advance and were unable to enjoy it, so be mindful should you book this place. Now for the bad. This hotel is basically two steps above a Hostel. You do not have a phone in the room, so anytime you need to contact the front desk, you will need to leave your room, and go down to the reception area. This was an issue for me since I was on the ninth floor. Talk about ridiculous and inconvenient. Not only was my room missing toilet paper, but I should not have to ask the front desk for something that is routinely available in a hotel room!!! Also, the rooms do not have refrigerators or a safe for your valuables, so you will need to carry anything valuable with you at all times. I have never stayed in a "Boutique" hotel that did not have a safe for my valuables, such as cash and passport. This is a basic necessity in Europe and a huge failure at this hotel/hostel. In addition, if you have dinner somewhere in town and bring back leftovers, you cannot store it in your room, but will need to eat it upon returning to the hotel. However, don't expect the hotel/hostel to allow you to eat your food anywhere in the hotel except your room!!! We tried to eat our leftovers in the seating area by the bar, WHICH WAS CLOSED at the time, and were told we cannot eat our food in the bar area. Despite being hotel/hostel guests, we could not enjoy our food anywhere in the lobby, except for seating across from the reception that was completely full when we brought our food back. Another major failure at this place. Beware that since the windows in the rooms do not open, you will be at the mercy of the heating system, which is regulated throughout the entire building. So the rooms are extremely warm and without any airflow. You will need to ask for a fan from the front desk, and hopefully they have one available. Noise was a major problem. Despite booking a superior room and asking the hotel for a quiet room in advance, since I had heard that the hotel gets very noisy on Friday and Saturday nights, I was unable to sleep the first Friday and Saturday night we were at the hotel. The thumping from the music downstairs and the music coming from the club upstairs was too loud to allow for any sleep. If you are a light sleeper, do not book a room at this hotel/hostel, as you will not get any sleep! As for getting an iron for your packed clothes upon arrival, you must take all of your wrinkled clothing into their basement and iron your clothes in the laundry room. They do not offer an iron for the rooms, which is another problem I have never experienced before. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel/hostel for the price, since you can find better accommodations all over Stockholm in the same area. It is noisy, costly, hot, unaccommodating, and overall not a good value for the money. There is absolutely nothing "boutique" about the Hobo, other than the reception area that differs from the usual chain hotel. But again, the Hobo is two steps above a hostel, with the exception of the breakfast.

Great hotel in the center of Stockholm, cozy and clean rooms, delicious breakfast with a view! Close by to the central station and to several sightseeings like the old town, the shopping district and great bars and restaurants. Highly recommend!
