We don’t understand much of what they’re saying, but we know there’s more to Finland than Moominvalley, Nokia and wife carrying (they host the Wife Carrying World Championships every year, believe it or not).

Sauna
Even business meetings are held in the sauna as often as in the conference room!

Finland is a heaven for outdoor enthusiasts and also has a wonderful culture which has enjoyed an explosion of design and innovation in recent years, but is also rich in traditions which are, to a great extent, about the good life. It can’t be a coincidence that in this country there is one sauna for every two inhabitants. Even business meetings are held in the sauna as often as in the conference room!

For foodies, it’s also worth tasting the edible part of Finnish culture. Helsinki is bustling with lovely restaurants offering local delicacies – plus, obviously, plenty of international eateries. Incidentally, don’t forget to buy Finnish salty liquorice if you’re planning a trip to Finland!

In the capital city of Helsinki you’ll notice that people walk a lot. Everywhere. The city is large, but not large enough to prevent you exploring it extensively on foot. You can wander between the various attractions and museums, or just from café to restaurant and then on to a bar.

Sauna, pool and cocktails at the top of the city

Although you’re guaranteed to find plenty to do in the city, there’s no need to be bored at your hotel, either. Strawberry has two hotels right in the centre, and both are pretty smart. The first, Clarion Hotel® Helsinki, was new in 2016. How does a morning dip with a view of the city sound? At the very top of the hotel, 78 metres above the ground, is a swimming pool which is heated all year round. After your swim at the top of the city, sweat it out in the sauna rooms, which also offer amazing views of Helsinki.

The hotel restaurant is The Social Bar & Bistro, and in the Sky Room you can drink cocktails while enjoying spectacular views from the sixteenth floor.

Finnish city luxury or a bustling hub by the airport

If exclusive, boutique and design float your boat, check out the independent Hotel F6 right by the famous Esplanade Park. The hotel has 66 uniquely designed hotel rooms with supremely comfortable beds, and in the morning, breakfast is prepared before your eyes in the open kitchen. The hotel bar, Runar, is one of the most popular in the area, and the stylish courtyard to the rear features both indoor and outdoor sitting arrangements.

Do you prefer to stay near the airport? Clarion Hotel® Aviapolis is located in the new district of Aviapolis, two short kilometres from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. This hotel was also brand new in 2016, with amenities including the Kitchen & Table restaurant and a relaxation area. Including a sauna, obviously.
