Aurora Village – 2,000 Project Homes in Luleå

Strawberry Living is entering a new business area and will operate 2,000 project homes in Luleå, at the heart of SSAB’s (Swedish Steel AB) major green transition.

A new chapter for Strawberry Living

Strawberry Living has established a dedicated business segment focused on operating complete living environments for major industrial and infrastructure projects. One of the key initiatives is Aurora Village in Luleå, where the company is responsible for operating 2,000 project homes developed by Adapteo.

– It feels fantastic to help address SSAB’s housing needs while also challenging how this type of accommodation is traditionally operated. We want to create a place that offers meaning and a sense of safety for people working far from home, says Mattias Stengl, CEO of Strawberry Living.

Responding to a growing need

The demand for staff accommodation in the Nordic region has increased in step with major industrial developments. SSAB’s transition to fossil-free steel production is one of the most extensive transformation projects in the area, creating a significant need for high-quality housing in Luleå.

Aurora Village has been designed to meet this demand: a modern and reliable living environment that supports well-being, safety and a strong sense of community.

– We know it can be challenging to spend long periods away from family and friends. That’s why we aim to create a living environment that offers more than just a practical solution.

Aurora Village – built for people

The project consists of flexible and sustainable homes developed by Adapteo. The buildings can be reused and relocated as needed, making them a long-term and responsible solution. Strawberry Living oversees operations and ensures a seamless experience, including a restaurant, 24/7 mini-market, gym, social areas and weekly activities.

Large infrastructure projects and industries depend on access to high-quality housing for their employees. We specialise in delivering flexible and sustainable buildings, and combining that with Strawberry Living’s unique ability to create service-oriented and vibrant living environments is a perfect match, says Ola Skogö, Managing Director of Adapteo Sweden.

The living environment also features a comprehensive and inclusive safety framework – an essential element when many people live and work closely together in a major industrial project.

Progress and further development

Aurora Village is being developed in stages and expanded in line with the region’s housing needs. The project comprises a total of 2,000 units, introduced gradually as part of SSAB’s extensive green industrial transition.

The whole ambition of the Strawberry Group is to contribute to solutions for societal challenges. This is a good example of when we not only create homes but also the conditions for regions to develop and build themselves stronger, says Petter Stordalen, owner of Strawberry.
