Strolling around in the city is an excellent idea. Ålesund centre was rebuilt in Jugend style, or art nouveau, after the fatal city fire in 1904. For a magnificent view over the city and the beautiful surrounding nature, the Aksla lookout point is highly recommended. You can get here by foot or by car.
