A couple at Clarion Hotel Aviapolis

1. Spending the night in a lighthouse in Ålesund

Ålesund’s most magical hotel room is something out of the ordinary! Imagine spending the night at the end of a pier right where ships sail into the harbour with just your partner and the Atlantic for company! You might even witness one of Western Norway’s epic storms, and you can cuddle up and keep warm as the waves crash against the lighthouse.

In the morning, there’ll be a luxurious breakfast basket waiting for you at the front door. Go ahead and enjoy breakfast in the custom-made bed that takes up half of the second floor, and relish stunning views of Godøya and the Atlantic. The lighthouse setting makes for the perfect backdrop as you gaze into each other’s eyes!

2. Break daily routines with a mid-week staycation

Monday: A quick piece of toast for breakfast, work, dinner, Netflix, bedtime. Tuesday: Skip breakfast, work, dinner, pack your bags, HBO, bedtime. Wednesday: Work, check in to the best hotel in town, go out for a romantic dinner, come back to the hotel to enjoy the cosy hotel bed. Thursday: Scrambled eggs, croissant, melon and more for breakfast, work…

Quality time does not need to be more complicated than a night spent at a nearby hotel. Make space in your calendar to create some special memories on a random weekday!

3. Head to Kungsholmen in Stockholm and blend in as one of the locals

Kungsholmen is a beautiful residential district in Sweden's capital city, surrounded by water. Check in to the Clarion Hotel® Amaranten for a night or three and enjoy some time in the heart of this lovely community! Stroll along the streets hand-in-hand and experience Stockholm through the eyes of a local! We’re certain you’ll feel right at home in this lovely part of the city.

4. Time for some time out at a spa!

Forget about work, household chores and what on earth to cook for dinner. Instead, slip into a bathrobe, relax your shoulders, feel your pulse drop and just be present. When you remove all the daily stressors, you’ll have the opportunity to really connect with your partner.

If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable setting, we recommend you to head to Yasuragi, a spa hotel situated just 20 minutes outside Stockholm, for a full Japanese wellness experience. You’ll be wearing a cotton kimono called a “yukata” during your stay, and you can treat body and soul to a traditional Japanese bathing ritual, as well as heated indoor and outdoor pools with the forest as a backdrop, different kinds of saunas and lots more. When you’re ready to eat, you’ll have three restaurants to choose from, as well as a sake bar. All our spa guests eat in their yukatas, so you don’t even have to think about what to wear for dinner!

5. Picnics and deep conversations

Sometimes you just have to force yourself to talk about something else. Regardless of how long you’ve been together, you can never be sure you really know each other 100%, as you’re always evolving and growing. Make time to ask some deep questions and really listen to what your partner has to say. You may be surprised to learn something new!

You could use these 36 questions as conversation starters. They include the following: If you could change something about the way you were raised, what would it be? What is the greatest thing you have achieved in your life? Your home is on fire - after saving your loved ones and your pets, what would be the one thing you’d grab?

Grab a blanket, something nice to eat and find a lovely spot of lawn, and have a great time in nature as you get to know a loved one even better!

6. Love and lust in Bergen

7. Night hike to watch the sunrise over Preikestolen

Get up really, really early or don’t even bother going to bed, and take a hike up to Preikestolen (“Pulpit Rock”) to watch the sunrise. It’ll take about two hours to reach the top, as you watch the sun gradually filling the sky and fjord with vivid colours. The experience of standing up there on Preikestolen gazing over the stunning skyline, while everyone else is still asleep, is a magical way to bond with a loved one.
