Clarion Hotel® Oslo

We had a great stay here for five nights. We really liked the location of the hotel and we could get everywhere we wanted to in Oslo really quickly by walking or public transport. There are good facilities nearby for eating and drinking too. Highlight of the stay was the breakfast as others have mentioned! Wow! We ate so much each day that we didn’t need to have lunch! The range of breakfast items was incredible, all great quality, and the omelettes/pancakes/hot drinks made to order a real treat. The staff at breakfast work so hard and everything is cleared and replenished quickly. Hotel reception staff were also great and helped us with any queries. On our first night we unpacked and got in bed, then realised there was a strange whistling noise in the room that made it difficult to sleep. We tried to locate and remedy it but to no avail. The night porter came up and felt it was the air con/heating system. He helpfully moved us to a new room where we remained for the duration of our stay. The new room was an upgrade and was lovely, larger with a seating area and some nice additions such as robes and slippers. Even though we faced the main road we didn’t hear the traffic noise. The room had everything we needed - tv, iron, hairdryer, coffee machine, lovely toiletries etc. on one occasion housekeeping forgot to leave us towels but this was quickly remedied. We also had drinks in the shutter bar and these were lovely too. Overall we had an amazing stay. If anything could be improved it would be a bit of info about how to use the lights and heating system - the bathroom light was temperamental to say the least! And to make people aware that you need to lock the bedroom door with the key card, most places auto lock. A kettle in the room would be nice for those of us who prefer tea over coffee! And not sure if anyone has noticed but there are ants enjoying the honeycomb at breakfast! Thanks for a great stay!

Since their opening they are keeping the same level of very nice and attentive service. Their bkf personal is very hardworking and welcoming. Check in was done in very smooth way (by mr. Vegard). Hotel is very clean, and it is positioned close to many city attractions, especially The Munch museum.

Great hotel. A deal in off-season. Perfect location for first visit to Oslo. Fantastic breakfast and excellent dining area. Very friendly staff.

My partner and I stayed at the Clarion Hotel for 4 nights to spend a city break in Oslo. I will break it down... 1. Location - fantastic, right in the city centre but it isn't at all noisy or even half as busy as London. There are great restaurants and cafes surrounding the hotel so very spoilt for choice. Its a short walk to the harbour and other parts of the city, or you can get the tram which I loved, we took a tram to the Sculpture Park. We also took a tram to a highly recommended pork restaurant called Den Glade Gris. We could have walked back but I was being lazy! The tram service is easy to use, not too pricey and you can get one every few minutes. I cannot fault the local transport. Oh, I should mention the hotel is a 5 min walk from Oslo Central Station where we got a train to and from Oslo Airport; so convenient! 2. Room - our room was spacious with large comfortable bed, large bathroom and big shower; only one minor fault, the floor mats are extremely slippery (no grips) and I nearly slipped A over T a couple of times, which I found quite dangerous so I would recommend either removing or replacing for ones with rubber bottoms (I hid ours away). 3. Cleanliness - hotel is very clean, and our room also. Obviously there's an option to get your room cleaned daily if required. Again, I cannot fault the cleanliness of our room and shower etc. 4. Service - I noticed the people in general in Oslo were so friendly and kind, and the same goes for the service at this hotel. Especially at breakfast! 5. Food - we ate quite late one evening in the Clarion Shutter Bar, we both chose pizza which was DELICIOUS! We arrived on the Sunday, went to the Opera House for a show and got out quite late. By then quite a few of the restaurants nearby were closing. Luckily the Shutter Bar was open until 10pm (maybe 10.30?) so we managed to get a mocktail and food and it was perfection. Now... the BREAKFAST! I am still thinking about the breakfast even now a week later... it was perfect. So you have a choice of freshly cooked omelette (cooked to perfection every time, so delicious), a Barista makes fresh coffee (Latte, Mocha etc) which again was a great touch, much better than a machine! There was a huge choice of continental breakfast (cheeses, meats, salad), cooked breakfast, pastries, pancakes, fresh bread and butter. It is by far the BEST breakfast we have ever had in a hotel. Absolutely 10/10. 6. Value - I think for the breakfast alone the hotel is worth it, but it wasn't too pricey imho. Oslo/Norway is generally very expensive, so I think the hotel is great value considering the general cost of Oslo. 7. Gym - fully equipped gym, we went 3 times during our stay at around 7am, there were people in there but it never got horribly busy, and most were finished by 8am. I can't think of anything else to add, but I would highly recommend this hotel if staying in Oslo and wanting to be near everything!

Can't find any faults with the hotel - this ticks all my boxes. Great location, nice spacious comfortable rooms with all the amenities you need. A very good gym and the breakfast buffet is one of the best I have had - also brilliant with dietary requirements as I am allergic to gluten.
