Comfort Hotel® Xpress Youngstorget

Poor maintenance: broken mirror, broken Thermostat, Broken lights. Poor Cleanliness: Floors were smelly needed to clean it ourselves during our stay. No phone in our room to contact front desk to address issues. When contacted in person no one claim to fix anything. Thank god we only stayed 1 night during a long layover otherwise would run out to another facility. If your booking this place my advice would be spending a bit more for a higher rated place will go a long way.

The hotel was exactly as described. It was an express hotel meaning not a ton of luxury or frills but served its purpose for a 48 hour stay in Oslo. Checkin and out was easy, staff were great. The room was as expected small (typical European size). Bed was comfortable. No room cleaning until day 4 (fine). My main recommendation for anyone reading this review is that the hotel was a good distance further from all of the main tourist sites. It was also in a relatively sketchier part of oslo than most other options. Sketchy Oslo is not really sketchy - never felt unsafe but lots of trash. Across the street from a kink shop etc (not an issue for me but could see families not wanting their kids to see a leather clad mannequin on a leash). I’d recommend the other comfort express locations closer to the central station.

2 stays here at the beginning and the end of a trip to Norway. Keenly priced. Fairly good location - walkable go everywhere. Wi-Fi strong throughout. Gym is tiny and doesn’t have a lot of kit so you need to be inventive to have a decent workout! No kettle in the room, although there’s one in the basement you can use. Not exactly convenient but better than nothing. Only real bugbear was the size of the double bed in the room. It was tiny. Neither of us slept well. It always felt like you were about to fall out!

Central in Oslo, not in a busy street (noisy), the has what you normally need (like a pod ++, shower and bed). Free coffee ☕️ for Strawberry 🍓 members, and you can grab (by) something to eat on the go or chill 😎 at a table. In the “basement” you can relax 🤙 and work from a computer if needed 🤓.

Not my first stay at this hotel, but this time I was unlucky. First things first, the staff was great! They tried to help and acommondate me and solved (or at least tried to solve) the problems I had. I felt a little bit bad for having to use their time. The location is not bad. Walking distance to the city center and normally good value for the money. Just be aware that they have no breakfast includet and simple rooms. This is not a problem, because hotels with breakfast in Oslo are expensive and for the price difference you can get at least a great breakfast at Pascal! The problem with the hotel this time was, that it is technically outdated. I don't expect high end in this price range, but rooms that warm up to 29 degrees on a summers day is not acceptable. There is no AC in the hotel and the fan in the room and an open window did not help at all, since my room got sun 60 % of the day. I got good help at the reception and managed to switch rooms to a room facing the courtyard. This room was much cooler (no pun intended :)). New problem - I might have been the most unlucky guy this stay - the lock on the door did not work. The reception tried to give me a new card and in the end I got the receptionists card to enter/lock my room. But the lock did not work. I used to much trime I could have spend better trying to lock the room with all my belongings. They offered to put all my stuff into the luggage room. That was no help, since I didn't want to pack and check out - which would have been the sollution. So I had to take the risk on leaving the door unloked - just a do not disturb sign on the door handle. I was lucky and nothing happened, but the feeling was not good. I hope, Strawberry wil fix this, since they build new hotels all over the place. I think a hotel with an AC in the hot summer (and this will become more normal) is something one must have and based on this I will not stay in this hotel if I can find something that has the technical stuff in working order. In no way is this a bad hotel. But check what you need before booking! (maybe the Xpress hotel at the central station which is new(er)!)
