At selected Strawberry hotels, you can add your room key to Apple Wallet and use your iPhone or Apple Watch to open your door and access the hotel lifts. There is no need to unlock your device or open an app – simply hold it near the reader.
What is a hotel key in Apple Wallet?
A hotel key in Apple Wallet is a digital alternative to a physical key card. Once you have added it to your Wallet and checked in, you can use your iPhone or Apple Watch throughout your stay.
The key uses Near Field Communication (NFC), so you do not need to open the Strawberry app or have Bluetooth enabled when you approach the reader. Your key may even continue to work for up to five hours after your device has run out of battery, depending on the device model and settings.
How to use your hotel key
Add the room key to Apple Wallet before or during your stay. It will be activated automatically once you have checked in. If an Apple Watch is paired with your iPhone, the key will also be added to the watch.
To unlock your room or activate the lift, simply hold your iPhone or Apple Watch near the card reader. You do not need to unlock the device or open Apple Wallet first.
One less thing to keep track of
A digital hotel key means you have one less card to carry – and one less thing to potentially misplace. Since your phone is likely to be close at hand throughout your stay, getting into your room becomes a natural part of using a device you already carry.
