Oslo
Christmas in Winterland
Located between Karl Johans gate, the National Theatre and the Norwegian Parliament, Christmas in Winterland (Jul i Vinterland) takes over Spikersuppa from early November and into the new year. The square is filled with Christmas lights, market stalls, food and activities. There is also an ice rink, and the central location makes it easy to combine a visit with shopping, restaurants and other festive experiences in Oslo.

If you would like to turn your visit into a festive city break, there are several hotels nearby. Bygdøy
The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History
If you would like to combine a Christmas market with Norwegian cultural history, visit the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History (Norsk Folkemuseum) on Bygdøy. During the first two weekends of December, the museum is filled with market stalls, festively decorated historic buildings, folk dancing, concerts and Norwegian Christmas traditions.

Bergen
Festplassen Christmas Market
In the heart of Bergen, Bergen Christmas Market takes place at Festplassen, surrounded by shopping streets, restaurants and other festive attractions. Here you will find more than 90 stalls, bars and attractions, with crafts, food and drink from local and international exhibitors. You can also take a ride on the Ferris wheel for views over the Christmas market and city.

Opening hours: Monday–Friday 12:00–21:00, Saturday–Sunday 10:00–21:00
Location: Festplassen, Bergen
Entry is free, and the Byparken tram stop is right next to the market. Bergen city centre is compact, making it easy to explore the Christmas market, Bryggen and the rest of the city on foot. Hotel No 13 is located by Torgallmenningen, while Home Hotel Havnekontoret and Home Hotel Bryggen are located by historic Bryggen. At Home Hotel, breakfast, fika and dinner are included in your stay.

Trondheim
Christmas Market at Torvet
As December arrives in Trondheim, Torvet in the heart of the city fills with food, crafts and cultural events. The Christmas Market brings together more than 80 exhibitors, while the large lavvo tent is the perfect place to take a break with food and drinks and enjoy concerts and other entertainment.

Historic Christmas Market at Maihaugen
At Maihaugen, you can experience a Christmas market surrounded by historic buildings and beautifully decorated houses, while discovering how Christmas has been celebrated from the Middle Ages to the present day. More than 100 stalls offer traditional crafts, handmade goods, Christmas products and food, while activities for the whole family take place throughout the weekend.

Gausdal
Christmas Market at Aulestad
At Aulestad, the historic home of Norwegian author Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson in Gausdal, you can experience a Christmas market in a unique historic setting. Browse the stalls in the courtyard and Folkestua, explore the beautifully decorated home and discover how Christmas was celebrated in Bjørnson’s time. Admission to the Christmas market itself is free, while some activities require a separate ticket.

Røros
Christmas Market in Røros
The old wooden houses, snow-covered streets and historic surroundings make Røros an atmospheric destination in the run-up to Christmas. The Christmas Market takes place in the heart of the historic mining town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and features market stalls, Christmas food, horse-drawn sleigh rides, Christmas carols and activities for visitors of all ages. While you’re in Røros, take some time to explore the historic streets, independent shops and local flavours.

Christmas markets aren’t limited to the biggest cities. Across the country, small towns and communities come alive with local Christmas markets, decorated streets and festive activities throughout the run-up to Christmas.
Head to Bærums Verk just outside Oslo, experience Christmas at Hadeland Glassverk or make a pre-Christmas trip to Gamlebyen, the historic old town of Fredrikstad.
